Thank you Mr. Wu, persons like you can advocate more for people with disabilities and that want to continue to be independent.
I wonder if there a study that shows the revenues generated by stores that provide motorized handicapped carts compared to those that don’t provide motorized handicapped carts? I can only opine in regards to what I see, the carts of motorized carts for handicapped people are full and these people shop weekly to maintain the family’s pantry full and not be short of things since being handicapped is harder to just pick one or two things at a time.
I believe that individuals with handicaps can expend as much as any other person. It’s sad that some companies like IKEA do not see the revenue in these customers. And don’t care for individuals with disabilities

why do asian markets in az not have motorized shopping carts/ the stores are very big and a person with a disability or walking problems cannot shop at an asian market / does the disability act refer to asian. markets or only american markets / should be corrected

  4. Shawn Wu

    April 20, 2024 at 4:09 am

There may not be electric carts at Asian markets in Arizona for a variety of reasons, such as store policies, cost, or awareness of access needs. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applies to all businesses open to the public, including Asian markets, and they are required to make reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.

I don’t know of a study that compares the revenue of stores with and without electric carts for people with disabilities. Maybe you can check our another blog about top 100 retailers in the US with their revenues https://www.trolleymfg.com/retailers-in-america/. However, your observation raises an important point: providing electric carts can improve the shopping experience for people with disabilities, possibly increasing their frequency and amount of purchases. This suggests that stores that provide these amenities might not only improve accessibility, but also see a positive impact on their business by serving a wider range of customers. To get a definitive answer, you’d need to do a specific market study that quantifies these effects.

I am surprised that Khols or J.C. Pennys do not provide motorized shopping carts for thier handicapped customers! My husband has c.o.p.d.and it’s difficult for him to push a wheelchair around a store. So we can’t shop at these places. And why order on line from them if they don’t really care about the handicapped? We go to the stores that care about the handicapped!!!!

Unable to speak to customer service at any Aldi store. Trying to find out what stores, if any, have handicap scooters. I live in Bergenfield NJ.

  9. Shawn Wu

    July 19, 2024 at 8:09 am

Aldi stores generally strive to be accessible to all customers, including those with mobility challenges. The Bergenfield, NJ location at 433 S. Washington Ave. does have some accessibility features such as wide aisles designed to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters. However, Aldi’s provision of wheelchairs or handicap scooters can vary by store. They often have wheelchair-friendly shopping carts available, but they do not typically provide mobility scooters (ALDI Store Directory | ALDI US) (RestoreMobility).

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is advisable to contact the Bergenfield store directly at (844) 460-7183 to inquire about the availability of wheelchairs or other accessibility aids (Tiendeo). If mobility scooters are essential for your shopping needs, you might need to bring your own or consider other nearby stores that might offer such amenities.
