“Slow down, you move too fast”— a summer anthem. ⚫️Why do we grow programming before infrastructure? Or funding?⚫️How come our big ideas are easier to come by than the culture required to ground it? ⚫️Why do we expand more naturally than we contract? (Boards too!) Spend some time journaling. Listen to music. Get your reflective groove on. Reflection. Intention. Strategy. Action. It’s a cycle. It’s a marathon. It’s not a sprint. Endurance matters. Slow down, you’re moving to fast. No need to bypass the moment. Make it last. https://lnkd.in/g4rR6xbh

The Essence of Luxury: Silence and StillnessIn the fast-paced world we live in, luxury often finds its true essence in silence and stillness. It's remarkable how some brands have positioned themselves to capture this essence so effectively in their branding and marketing strategies.Capturing the essence of luxury through silence and stillness in branding and marketing is not just about aesthetics; it's about understanding the deeper desires of the consumer. It's about offering them a refuge, a moment of peace amidst the chaos. This is where true luxury lies.As we continue to evolve in our marketing strategies, it's essential to remember that sometimes, less is more. Embracing silence and stillness can elevate a brand, creating a timeless appeal that resonates deeply with those who seek not just products, but profound experiences.

Thank you Tyler Rand and Association of California Symphony Orchestras for inviting me into the great discussion about #capitalization with Elizabeth Shribman & Stephanie N. Stallings1. Where does one start in the capitalization process?•Begin with the END in mind! This is a process that helps us TAKE CHARGE of our situation, and get out of the doom and gloom being amplified right now in the press. No matter what your financial situation is, take steps today that create the possibility for you to have operating reserves, multi-year giving, opportunity funds. Speak your IMPACT to inspire, enroll and engage others in what can be possible - and (transparently) include them in the journey – bumps and all.2. How do you being to talk to donors?• Coming out of COVID, we have such an opportunity to shift conversations with our donors and community from what we DO, to what occurs when we DO it! Speak & share the extraordinary IMPACT we create when we’re rocking it! (creating moments of #joy, #connection, #belonging, #awe, #goosebumps, #transformation, #fun #healing). Enroll and engage others in our vision of what it might mean for our community• and then:educate our donors on not only what it TAKES to do what we normally do, but what it will take to truly move the needle – to have the impact we’re meant to have. #annualgiving #acsocon League of American Orchestras #donor #development #fundraising #data

Meanwhile, it's very much a part of human nature to seek similarities among phenomena rather than focusing on differences, laying the groundwork for change. Sometimes, this inclination is justified, especially when attempting such comparisons seems unimaginable. Take, for instance, the question: What similarities exist between Opera and Jazz? Instead of assuming there are none, consider how George #Gershwin made an attempt to reconcile these two genres with his creation, "Porgy and Bess."What makes "Porgy and Bess" somewhat similar to #jazz is its incorporation of jazz elements into the operatic form. Gershwin infused the score with blues, jazz, and spiritual influences, creating a uniquely American sound. The opera features syncopated rhythms, improvisational passages, and harmonic progressions reminiscent of jazz music. Additionally, the characters often sing in a conversational, idiomatic style that reflects the vernacular language of the time. While "Porgy and Bess" is not a traditional jazz work, its fusion of operatic and jazz elements makes it a notable example of how these two genres can intersect and influence each other.Join us for Opera and Jazz Experience! 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHDb92XRhttps://lnkd.in/dRpwG3du

"Welcome to your main course!" The Hives turned an average mid-day festival slot into a triumph in 2002. The middle of any process can feel like a chore, but it's invariably the forge in which any idea or pitch comes to life. This week, I explore the paradox of the middle on Only Third Party, with references to The Hives, Mean Tweets, and The Lighthouse Family. Check the link in my bio to read it.
