Re: Phone line. I understand covid 19, however Unable to reach a live person at 9197333000. There is not even an option. Wont even allow messages. People have serious matters to take care of.

Visiting from out of state. Was sent by local county register of deeds to amend a birth certificate. This state office sadly does NOT amend any vital records. Shock! What kind of state registrar does not offer the service to amend a record. I was given 3 phone numbers to call to reach someone in the amendment division. Called the numbers. No answer. It went to a voicemail saying to “Please leave a voicemail, we’ll get back to you within 5-7 business days.”. Totally ridiculous for someone needing a record right away. If you need to go there you need to make an appointment online, which there are none available. Staff is not visible to visitors.

Not being able to access vital records has got to be to some level illegal. This agency should be absolutely ashamed to not provide this service to tax paying citizens. At what point did our nation get here. Whoever is in charge for NC vital records should be held completely accountable.

Worst service imaginable. You will not speak to a live representative ever. Some numbers given to reach the office says phone disconnected. If you do use the right number it will just take you to voicemail and tell you to leave a message and they will call you back in 7-10 days which will never happen. left multiple messages never a call back. I drove over two hours to the office just to turn in papers I thought they needed and to try an talk to some one to help me. This specific service should not be this hard or take this long or be this complicated. Having a birth certificate in general or making a change to one is most likely very important to the person trying to accomplish that and most likely its time sensitive for legal purposes or school or adoption or insurance. For my case I need my name added to my sons birth certificate because his mother was still married to someone when he was born so they would not put my name his real father whom has the same last name as him on
